Lordy, Lordy look who's... 31

Last weekend I turned 31, it was a great day! Stephen gave me the gift of sleep, he took 2 feedings for the babies and I got my first 3 hours of consecutive sleep in a month. Some of my favorite people came by Saturday night to party and brought Marcus' delicious brisket for dinner. Dina made this great cupcake cake. It was great to see the Gill's and Watson's. Sunday my mom and Larry stayed with the babies so Stephen and I could go to dinner.

It was so neat to think back a year ago and the blessings that have come this year. A year ago we had NO IDEA that the baby we had prayed years for would be here in the form of TWINS! We are so blessed and thankful. Two other little blessings are coming Summer of 2010 to the Watson's and Gill's. I can't wait to meet them!!

Christmas Blessings

At exactly 3:16 and then again at 3:17 pm on December 22, 2009 Stephen and I were immensely blessed to become the parents of Charis Bree and Andrew Caleb. We are so thankful that the Lord had allowed us the blessing and opportunity to be parents. Charis was born at 3:16 and weighed 4 lbs and 11 oz and was 18 inches long. Drew weighed 5 lbs 9oz and was 17 3/4 inches long.

The night before I was having some pretty strong contractions and Stephen made an executive decision that enough was enough and took me into the hospital. Our doctor had called ahead and told the L&D nurses that she had already decided that we would do a C-section the next day because I had preeclampsia. That night they hooked us up to the monitors and started the IV and then told us to rest. I was in a labor bed so rest was not happening. We were scheduled for 2 pm and then were pushed back a bit. Our families were able to come into the room and hang out for a while before the surgery. The drugs in my IV made me feel a little anxious and so my nurse made me rest before we went into the OR. Our anesthelogist was named Dr. Needleman. He was great and narrated what was going on while Stephen went to take pictures of the babies.

They brought the babies to me and let me see them both before they took Charis to the NICU. She was little and so they had to observe her and test her for a few hours and then they brought her to us and said she was healthy little girl. It felt so good to have our family together.

They are good babies and it is so amazing to think a year ago we had no idea we would have one, much less two little blessings to take home on Christmas day.
